Frenonia "Free" Roberts leads an idyllic life, if you ask her baby sister Rhonda, her best friend Sharmayne and others looking in on her glamorous, Buppie existence in Atlanta, where she high-steps it through her days as a young entrepreneur, the owner of TheWeAreFamily Bookstore and Coffeeshop. She is the apple of her mother's eye, a heavy hitter for the city's National Black Arts Festival, founder of the esteemed Daughters of Isis Book Club and the flame in J.T.'s heart.
Then one evening Free closes the bookstore and bows to the whim of a supernatural breeze guiding her Mercedes towards Techwood Homes, a throwaway neighborhood off her normal route back to the suburbs. She has no warning that a simple turn in the road will catapult her into a devastating, downward spiral to a place she's never known....until now.
In turmoil, Free watches as worlds collide and hearts weep. Used to being the epitome of control, she learns to surrender to an unseen power moving for her good, even when she craves little more than an endless night. Meanwhile, the people closest to Free can't stay her inevitable plunge; they're too busy handling their own dilemmas treading water, battling demons and stumbling through their own mazes. How is Free to know a stranger with the South in her mouth will be the saving grace she and the others (Rhonda, Sharmayne, Pinky, Pastoria and J.T.) will need to lead them back to love?
A novel about the healing power of love and redemption, about betrayal and longing, about family and its many forms, If You Love Me, Come resonates with lyrical language and reservoirs of emotion. Claudia Moss, a storyteller from a long line of Southern storytellers, plants her post in literature.

If You Love Me Come edition by Claudia Moss Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
"If You Love Me, Come" the title alone speaks volumes and is backed up by the words that grasp you and hold you captive with the turning of each page!!! Claudia Moss, the author, has certainly took me to a place I enjoyed visiting!! Awesome book! A must read!
"If You Love Me, Come" is a well written novel that captivates the dynamics of relationships. It beautifully references love, thrill, intimacy, and reunification. It's a riveting must-read that I'd recommend for readers who appreciate love and life. I can't wait to read more of what Claudia Moss has to offer the literary world.
I like this book with the young and the old, it shows the reality of the way life is growing up in church, the reality of cheating parents, and what really goes on in a church setting. No one is perfect.
This book has been a delightful change to include many characters from different eras that have been intertwined in relationships with a today type twist. It drove me through many feelings and emotions as I internalized all of the twists and turns of characters brought to life in a delightful way. I loved it as it reminded me of another of my favorite authors. It's the type of storyline that touches the heart along with stimulating the mind for a positive energy boost in knowing that all things happen for a reason including each person that you may meet. This book bridges the gap of a lost family that is reunited by fate.
If You Love Me, Come is an excellent read. As you read the novel you will see that the minor details to wording and grammactics brings this book to life! It is so refreshing to read a novel from a grammatically mature author because there are no grammatical errors distracting from the true essence of the story. The plot is well developed as are the characters backstories. As I read this book, I was able to envision each character and could see a little of myself in each one. If You Love Me, Come is an great story and you will not be disappointed!
I stumbled upon this novel and boy am I glad I did. Claudia Moss deserves kudos. As I read this book. I immediately thought of other great African American female authors, Gloria Naylor, Diane McKinney- Whetstone and Brenda McFadden, just to name a few. Ms. Moss weaves a story, sucking you right in. Her characters are rich, complicated and very human.
Frenonia Roberts is the main character, the proprietor of a bookstore in Atlanta. She is young, beautiful, smart, successful and upwardly mobile. Miz Too Sweet is old, wise, beautiful and living below the poverty line. These two women change each others lives and all the lives of the folks around them. I won't say much more. Pick this book up, you won't be disappointed, I promise.
If You Love Me, Come
It is rare that I read a book in one day. However, Ms. Moss aromatic novel captivated my senses from beginning to end. I could taste the flavor of the characters as she mixed up a gumbo of fresh personalities sprinkled with the salt of her rich imagination. The references to soul food, reminded me of Sunday dinners that I grew up on. I found myself wanting to exit out of the book and go to sleep but could not. My need for sleep had to wait. I was captivated by this fine storyteller. There was no way; I would interrupt the flow of her intricate story.
Universal themes like the love of self, family, friends and partners connected me to this novel. The setting was in my favorite southern city, Atlanta, Georgia. A picturesque urban community filled with contrasts of haves and have-nots. And Claudia Moss walked that fine tightrope between the two vastly different worlds, finding a common denominator. She was equally comfortable in both like her main character, Frenonia "Free" Roberts. I found myself loving each character, some more than others like Miz Too-Sweet and JT. All of the characters fully contributed to the mosaic plot. Each one had their own colorful past, strong desires and life-long dreams. This is an excellent book that belongs in my collection of good reads and I am sure that you would agree once you had read and digested each chapter of this tasty morsel.
